EGR deactivation

Exhaust gas recirculation (EGR) is used to reduce nitrogen oxides (NOx). The EGR feeds exhaust gases into the intake air, especially during a cold start. As a result, the vehicle warms up faster and reaches operating temperature earlier. In the partial load range, the exhaust gas temperature is reduced by around 100 degrees, thereby reducing NOx emissions.

The disadvantage of this setup is the coking of the EGR valve and the intake manifold. The diameter of the intake ducts can decrease by up to 1 cm!

After deactivation, the EGR flap is permanently closed.

ATTENTION: We would like to point out that the deactivation of the AGR is not permitted within the scope of the STVO.
